Importing Motor Vehicles into Zimbabwe: CBCA Certificate Requirements

Cotecna is authorised by the Zimbabwe Ministry of Industry and Commerce to issue Certificates of Conformity (COC) for new and used motor vehicles and spare parts exported to Zimbabwe. These certificates are mandatory under the country’s Consignment-Based Conformity Assessment (CBCA) Programme.

About the CBCA Programme for Vehicles

Cotecna is mandated to implement the CBCA programme for motor vehicles and spare parts. Our inspections are carried out in exporting countries, at landing ports, and at major border points before entry into Zimbabwe. The programme aims to protect consumers from substandard, counterfeit, and potentially dangerous vehicles and components.

Regulated Products

All vehicles and spare parts imported into Zimbabwe require a CBCA certificate.

• Vehicles older than 10 years are not permitted for import, except for returning residents, who may import such vehicles with a valid CBCA certificate.
• Vehicles with altered odometers are strictly prohibited.
